Hello!

Meet Pat Batliner and her therapy dog Riley, a 7-year-old black Lab rescued from Labs 2 Love. After retiring in 2020, Pat found the perfect way to give back. She and Riley joined Capital Therapy Dogs 2½ years ago and now visit assisted living and memory care facilities throughout the Rocklin/Roseville area, along with special events like schools, the Sacramento Children’s Museum, and community gatherings.
“It’s always rewarding to see how much people love the dogs,” Pat says.
“And Riley loves the attention—and belly rubs!”

Capital Therapy Dogs appreciates opportunities to support the Sacramento Children’s Museum, a local nonprofit with a mission to spark a passion for lifelong learning. Kids love dogs and our therapy dog teams love participating in the annual Dogs with Jobs event that highlights different types of working dogs and the important roles they play in our community.
Many thanks to the Sacramento Children's Museum
and Armstrong Creative Co.
A therapy dog team is a friendly pet paired with their happy human. Together they bring joy to others. Therapy dogs are not service dogs, although service dogs may also be therapy dogs.
Obedience and therapy dog training classes are beneficial for you and your dog. There are many excellent trainers in our area. Capital Therapy Dogs coaches handlers but does not provide dog training.
Click About Us and read our Playbook. Then fill out a Contact Us form to meet with a Greeter. Dogs must be at least one year old and been in your care for at least six months. Volunteers without dogs are welcome too!
