Capital Therapy Dogs (CTD) was founded in 2017 by a group of therapy dog enthusiasts with many years of experience sharing the benefits of therapy dogs with local organizations. Interacting with therapy dogs helps improve mood and brings a sense of calm and companionship.

For new volunteers seeking to join us, we follow a standard process to assess temperament, health, and safety in evaluating and qualifying each handler and dog team for provisional membership. CTD volunteers aim for consistent service and community engagement while conducting therapy dog programs with respect and professionalism. Scheduled weekly and monthly, our programs offer comfort, connection, and support to diverse populations at schools, libraries, community centers, hospitals, assisted-living facilities, and many additional locations.
